Texas Family with Generations of Founding Texas History, Since 1731
1731: 90 Years Before Stephen F Austin and 100 Years Before family cousin Sam Houston, Josh’s 8th Great Grandfather Texas Settler Juan Curbelo from Spain – Maternal Line – is listed 2nd of the first 16 families to start the village of San Antonio Spanish Territory Texas 1731. Juan Curbelo also served as the sixth and eighth mayor of San Antonio in 1737 and 1739. Our family arrived in San Antonio from the Canary Islands in 1731 with 15 other Canarian families to populate the region. – Texas Historical marker.
James Walker – Family member, one of the first American Settlers to own land in Texas, what is now Washington County Texas, in July 1824. Stephen F. Austin Colony Land Grant “Old 300”.
Jacob and Asa Walker – Two family members, Jacob Walker and Asa Walker who fought and died in the Alamo March 6th, 1836. Jacob Walker, said to have been last defender to die in the Alamo, Texas Historical Marker. Remember the Alamo.
James Walker Jr and his son William Collett Walker – Two family members who fought in the Battle of San Jacinto April 21st, 1836, in the Texas War for Independence. Also built first brick home, built about 1853 rural part of McLennan County – Two Texas Historical markers.
Samuel Hamilton Walker Texas Ranger – The Original Walker Texas Ranger – Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. Co-Inventor, with Samuel Colt, of the Walker Colt Revolver 1847. Texas Historical marker.
